An AI platform for construction teams to track tasks, manage proof of work, and release payments.

Overview

Eden is a web-based AI assistant built for the construction industry. Acquired via Upwork, the client provided a detailed product brief covering the full experience — from room creation to payment release. My role was to design the end-to-end UI across multiple user roles: admin, contractor, client, and scheduler.

The Problem

Construction projects run on trust, and trust breaks when nothing is documented. Payment disputes, unclear task ownership, and missing proof of work are common pain points. Communication is scattered across calls, messages, and paper. There is rarely a single source of truth for what was done, by whom, and whether it was approved before money moved.

Design Approach

Brief-driven design. Every decision traced back to a real need.

Chat as the core

Multiple stakeholders, one shared room per project. Communication, task status, and payments stay in one thread — making the AI feel native rather than bolted-on.

Minimal UI

Construction workers are task-focused, not interface-focused. Neutral backgrounds, clear hierarchy, and action-oriented components so users always know what to do next.

Proof before payment

Payment is gated behind proof submission. Review is a visible, explicit step — trust built into the interface itself, not just the policy behind it.

AI as facilitator

Eden AI is present — suggesting first tasks, surfacing info — but never dominates. Humans stay in control with AI handling the operational scaffolding.
